Labor Thanksgiving Day (Japan)

Labor Thanksgiving Day is a Japanese national holiday observed on November 23rd to honor labor, celebrate production, and encourage mutual gratitude among citizens. It originates from Niiname-sai, an ancient harvest festival in which the Emperor offers the year's newly harvested grain to the deities, a rite still performed at the Imperial Palace on this day. The holiday was established under its current name in 1948. It is also the last national holiday of the calendar year under the current holiday schedule, and many people use the day to express gratitude for work and everyday life.
